Annie Lennox was born Ann-Lynne Angevene Griselda Lennox on Christmas Day in Scotland. She was an only child and was raised in a musically-inclined family. She won a place at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied flute and classical music. She lived on a student grant and worked part time jobs for extra money.

She became the lead singer of The Tourists, a British pop band. She met Dave Stewart, whom she had been involved in a relationship. However, their relationship ended by the time they formed Eurythmics, where they gained fame.

They had immense success as a duo, but Lennox also matured as a public figure and gained success as a solo artist. She released a large number of music videos during her work with Eurythmics and in her solo career. She won numerous awards including Grammy, BRIT, AMA, and BRIT Awards among others.

She was hailed as "The Greatest White Soul Singer Alive" by the rock industry on the VH1 show "100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll" in 1999.

She was married twice. First is with Radha Raman from 1984 to 1985 and then to Uri Fruchtmann from 1988 to 2000. She and Fruchtmann have two daughters together, Lola and Taliier. Their only son, Daniel, was stillborn in 1988.
