Christopher Tucker, the youngest of six children, was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Mary and Norris Tucker. After graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy and films.

He worked in Atlanta clubs by the age of 17 as a stand-up comedian. He got his big break in Los Angeles when he got his first small movie role in "House Party 3."

His major film debut was in the 1995 comedy "Friday" opposite rapper Ice Cube. In 1997, he starred alongside Charlie Sheen in "Money Talks" and with Bruce Willis in "The Fifth Element."

The next year, he starred in the comedy martial arts film "Rush Hour" opposite Asian film superstar Jackie Chan. The film was a blockbuster hit that produced two sequels, "Rush Hour 2" and "Rush Hour 3." He commanded $20 million talent fee after the first "Rush Hour" film and became a member of the unofficial "20 million per film" club. Other members of the exclusive club are A-listers Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise, and Will Smith.

In 2005, he created a sitcom that is based on his adolescent years while growing up in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. "Everybody Hates Chris" became a hit and has been nominated for numerous awards. Its stars Tyler James William and Tichina Arnold won the 2006 NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series.

Tucker has a son named Destin Christopher, who lives in Los Angeles with his mother. He currently resides in Montverde, Florida.
