David Beckham was born on May 2, 1975 to David Edward Allen Beckham and Sandra Georgina West. Beckham's parents are fanatical Manchester United fans and their son showed an early enthusiasm for soccer, as well for Manchester United. Beckham has two sisters, Joanne and Lynne. Beckham grew up attending church, however, his maternal grandmother is Jewish and Beckham has referred to himself as half Jewish.

On July 8, 1991, at the age of 16, Beckham left school to play for Manchester United's Jr. Team. Two years later, he played his first professional soccer game for Manchester United. Beckham quickly became one of the most popular players on Manchester United. Manchester United with Beckham's help won the FA Cup and a Premier Division title in the same year. In 2002, Beckham helped the English National Team advance to the quarter finals in the World Cup. The next year Beckham left his beloved Manchester United to play for Real Madrid, one of the premier soccer teams in Spain. In 2007 he left Real Madrid to come to the United States to play for the Major League Soccer team the Los Angeles Galaxy.

While Beckham is famous mostly for his soccer abilities, his popularity off the field rose to a fever pitch when he married Spice Girl Victoria Adams on July 4, 1999. David and Victoria Beckham have three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz. The Beckhams garnered a lot of media attention when they moved to the United States. They have been seen dining with friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, as well as Eva Longoria Parker.

David Beckham is looked to as a style icon and was featured in ads for many clothing designers. One of his most recent campaigns shows him modeling Emporio Armani Underwear. Beckham has also been on magazine covers, including a recent cover for Details magazine.
