Frank Vincent was born Frank Vincent Gattus on April 4, 1939 in North Adams, Massachusetts. He was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. His father was an ironworker and amateur actor born from Sicilian immigrants in the U.S. Vincent has two brothers, Jimmy and Nick. Frank acted in school plays as a child and studied music at St. Paul's grammar school.

Vincent is talented musically; he plays the drums, piano and trumpet. He hoped originally for a musical career. As a teen, he played drums in various nightclubs. He played and recorded nonstop. Eventually, he recorded as a drummer with notables like Don Costa, Paul Anka, Del Shannon, Trini Lopez and the Belmonts.

However, he made a transition into film in 1975 he made his debut in the gangster flick, "The Death Collector," alongside Joe Pesci. Producer Martin Scorsese was so impressed by the pair's performances that he cast them in the 1980 film "Raging Bull," which starred Robert De Niro. Pesci, De Niro, and Vincent often starred in films together afterwards.

From there on out, Vincent would rarely escape being cast as gangster. In 1990, he starred as mobster in "Goodfellas." He was featured again as a gang member in the 1995 movie "Casino." He played an associate of a Mafia boss in the TV movie "Gotti" in 1996. He played a New York Boss in HBO hit "The Sopranos." He also voices Mafia Don Salvatore Leone in the "Grand Theft Auto" series of video games.

In 1999, he was named the Italian American Entertainer of the Year Award-winner. He published his first book, "A Guy's Guide to Being a Man's Man" in 2006. Frank lives in New Jersey with his wife Kathy. The couple have three children.
