Gisele Bündchen was born on July 20, 1980 in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil to Vânia Nonnenmacher and Valdir Bündchen.

The model has five sisters, including a fraternal twin Patrícia. Bündchen originally wanted to be a professional volleyball player, but at the age of 14 she was discovered by a modeling agency in a shopping mall.

In 1996 she moved to New York City, to begin her modeling career at Fashion Week.

Bündchen's first major magazine cover was the July 1999 issue of Vogue.

The model also won VH1/Vogue model of the year in 1999. She also appeared on the covers of W, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, and Allure.

Bündchen's was the face of many advertising campaigns including Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Dolce and Gabbana, and a 2006 campaign for Apple Computers. In July 2007, Forbes magazine named Gisele the world's top-earning model in the ist of the World's 15 Top-Earning Supermodels.

The model recently made history by appearing on the April 2008 Vogue cover with LeBron James, the first black man ever to appear on the magazine's cover.

Bündchen's dated some of the most attractive men in the world. In the past she was in relationships with actor Leonardo DiCaprio and surfer Kelly Slater. Bündchen is currently dating New England Patriot's quarterback Tom Brady.
