In 1991 Klum applied for a national modeling contest and chosen as the winner from a pool of 25,000 contestants. Klum was offered a modeling contract, as a prize for winning the contest,that she accepted after graduating from school.

Klum's modeling career instantly took off. She was featured on the cover of most major magazines including Vogue, Elle, and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Klum may be best known, however, for her work for Victoria's Secret.

She was a spokesmodel for McDonald's, Braun, and Liz Claiborne. Along with her modeling career, Klum made her mark in television and film. She is the host, judge, and executive producer of Project Runway, a reality show featuring up and coming fashion designers. Klum made cameo appearances in the movies Ella Enchanted and The Devil Wears Prada.

Klum expanded her empire by designing her own clothing line, as well as creating two of her own perfumes. The supermodel also designed shoes for Birkenstock and a jewelry line for Mouawad.

Klum is currently married to singer Seal. They married on May 10, 2005. This is Klum's second marriage. She was previously married to Ric Pipino, but the couple divorced in 2002.

In 2003 Klum announced she was preganant with then boyfriend Flavio Briatore's child. Leni, her first child, was born on May 4, 2004. Klum and Seal have two children together, Henry and Johan.
