John Burke Krasinski was born to nurse Mary Clare and internist Dr. Ronald Krasinski. He was raised in the suburbs of Newton, Massachusetts with his two older brothers. In 2001, he graduated in Brown University as a playwright.

After college, he went to New York City and did commercials and guest spots on TV shows. He also did readings of off-Broadway plays while working as a waiter.

Krasinski had been a script intern on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" in 2000. He had appearances in TV shows, including "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Without A Trace," "Ed," and in "CSI." He also appeared in numerous films such as "License to Wed" with Mandy Moore and Robin Williams and "Leatherheads" with George Clooney and Renee Zellweger.

In 2005, he landed his most notable role yet as Jim Halpert in the U.S. version of the sitcom "The Office." He, along with the rest of the cast, won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for two consecutive wins in 2007 and 2008.

Krasinski was also featured in People magazine's Sexiest Men Alive in 2006, where he was named the Sexiest Office Cutup.

He has just finished filming his next yet untitled film with Maya Rudolph and Cheryl Hines.
