Paris Whitney Hilton is a celebutante born in New York City on February 17, 1981 to a wealthy family. She used to be referred to as an "heiress" because of her family lineage connecting her to the famous Hilton hotel. She is the eldest daughter of socialites Richard and Kathy Hilton. Her paternal grandfather is hotel chairman Barron Hilton, who is the son of Hilton Hotel founder Conrad Hilton.

Hilton attended Marywood-Palm Valley School in California during her first year of high school. She went to Dwight School in New York for her sophomore and junior years then at Canterbury School in Connecticut before dropping out. She had then taken and earned a GED.

Hilton began her modeling career in her childhood, usually at charity events. At age 19, she was signed on to Donald Trump's modeling agency, T Management. She had worked with several modeling agencies in New York, London, and Los Angeles. She appeared in a number of advertising campaigns including Iceberg Vodka, Guess, Christian Dior, Marciano, and Tommy Hilfiger.

On 2003, a homemade sex video of her shot four years earlier with her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon was leaked on the Internet. It was later released as a DVD entitled "1 Night In Paris" despite Hilton's legal dispute. The video appeared a week before her reality TV show, "The Simple Life," with best friend Nicole Richie.

"The Simple Life" featured Hilton with Richie, the adoptive daughter of Lionel Richie, without cash and credit cards and living with a family in a farmhouse. The highly successful show had set off two more seasons on Fox but was cancelled after a dispute between the two childhood friends. E! TV had picked up the series for two more seasons.

Hilton's television career includes guest appearances on several series. She appeared in several music videos including "Just Lose It" by Eminem. Her film works include cameos in "Zoolander," "Wonderland," "The Cat In The Hat," and "Raising Helen."

It was her role in the 2005 horror film "House Of Wax" that earned her a nomination for Teen Choice Award's "Best Scream," which she won, and "Choice Breakout Performance - Female." The 2006 MTV Movie Awards also gave her a nomination for "Best Frightened Performance."

Hilton had founded Heiress Records in 2004 and released her self-titled debut album, "Paris," in 2006. The album's critical reception was mixed. Although the album reached 6 on Billboard for a week, the sales had been low. It was reported that the reason was because Hilton could not back the album with a tour and live singing.

In 2004, Hilton released an autobiography, "Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose." The book became a New York Times bestseller, although it was critically panned as amateurish.

Hilton had been involved with the creation of a perfume line by Parlux Fragrances. The successful release of the perfumes in 2004 had prompted the company to release several more fragrances with her name. Hilton had launched her perfumes called "Paris Hilton, "Just Me," "Heiress," and the latest in 2007, "Can Can." She is also set to release her own footwear brand called "Paris Hilton Footwear" in 2008. Hilton has a line of clothes sold at Kitson in Los Angeles since August 2007.

Hilton's relationships have always been public. She was first engaged to model Jason Shaw from 2002 to 2003, then to Greek shipping heir, Paris Latsis from May 29 to November 2005. She began dating another Greek shipping heir, Stavros Niarchos III in 2006.

Hilton had been incarcerated for 23 days on June 5, 2007 after she violated her probation stemming from her DUI arrest in 2006. It was a highly publicized imprisonment with the media following her the whole time from her entering the facility to her release.

In December 2007, her grandfather pledged 97% of his wealth to a charitable organization. This created conflict with the potential inheritance of Hilton, as it was greatly diminished.
