Rob Patterson was born November 9, 1970 in Natick, Massacusetts. The guitarist first gained recognition when he joined nu metal band Otep in 2001. He was a guitarist for the band until 2003 and was featured on their first two albums, "Sevas Tra" and "House of Secrets."

He gained wider recognition when he joined nu metal band Korn in July 2005 as a touring guitarist. Patterson did not appear for the first three shows of the band's European tour in 2006. He was replaced temporarily by Christian Olde Wolbers of the California-based metal band Fear Factory. Patterson returned to the tour after those three shows.

He recorded with the band when they did "MTV Unplugged: Korn," which was released worldwide in March 2007. The performance featured on the acoustic live album took place in Times Squares at MTV's studio in December 2006. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at No. 9 and sold 51,000 copies in its first week.

Shortly after the MTV Unplugged session, Patterson had a fallout with guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer and left the band. He returned to Korn in January 2008, after Munky apparently went on hiatus.

He has also released a solo EP on iTunes, "Dr. Z," and is currently working on a full length solo album, which is expected in October 2008.

He is currently dating actress and model Carmen Electra. It was confirmed back in April that the two are engaged.
