Shana Hiatt Biography

Army brat Shana Hiatt knew growing up that she wanted to be on television. As a child she used to watch for hours and analyze the way that the news anchors did their reporting. In her teens, she took an interest in athletics, joining lacrosse and field hockey teams as well as becoming a popular cheerleader at her school. Early into college as a broadcast journalism major, Shana came to the realization that she had a body meant for modeling. She signed on with a reputable talent agent who sent her off to Europe to walk the catwalks and runways on the fashion scene. Later, she would return to the United States and enter the yearly Hawaiian Tropic contest, which she won. Next, it was on to Playboy. Hiatt was featured as the cover girl for the magazine's "Girls of Hawaiian Tropic" pictorial. She participated in a companion video and some minor muscle magazine work before a return to making appearances representing the sun tan oil company. After meeting actor James Van Patten (son of Dick Van Patten, Eight is Enough fame) the two were soon married and Shana was pursuing her childhood goal of being a television anchor. A few roles in B-movies came next before she guest-hosted E! Entertainment Television's "Wild On" starring supermodel Brooke Burke. Then it was on to hocking beer as a Keystone Light girl. In 2003, Hiatt was hired by the Travel Channel for their series World Poker Tour," and despite brother-in-law Vince Van Patten being the host of the show, Shana landed the job of touring the globe interviewing poker players and giving viewers an inside look at some of the world's most popular casinos. She is also the spokesperson for PartyPoker.com, an online gaming community; and she had a small role in the 2005 John Cusack/Diane Lane film Must Love Dogs.
