Tina Fey was born on May 18, 1970 in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania to Donald and Zenobia Fey. The comedienne graduated from the University of Virginia in 1992, earning a B.A. in Drama. After graduation, Fey moved to Chicago to take classes at The Second City and joined the improvisational group as a regular cast member in 1994.

In 1997, Fey became Saturday Night Live's first female head writer. She won a 2001 Writer's Guild of America Award and a 2002 Emmy Award for her work on the show. Fey left Saturday Night Live in 2005, departing to develop a new sitcom for NBC entitled 30 Rock.

30 Rock did not become an instant hit, but slowly picked up steam when NBC put the show in its Must See TV Thursday night line-up. In 2007, Fey was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on 30 Rock. She did not win the Emmy, but the show itself won an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Fey did win a 2008 Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, as well as wining a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

Fey has also had success on the big screen. She wrote and co-starred in the 2004 film, Mean Girls. In 2008, Fey teamed up with former Saturday Night Live cast mate Amy Poehler in Baby Mama; the movie made over 60 million dollars at the box office.

Tina Fey married Saturday Night Live composer Jeff Richmond in 2001. The couple has one daughter Alice Zenobia Richmond, who was born on September 10, 2005.
