George Clooney might be 54 but he's one Hollywood star who you just can't keep out of the spotlight. He's had a huge year filled with wedding and escapades with his gorgeous wife Amal Alamuddin.

He's been in the public eye for the best part of the last three decades since he burst into the scene by playing the handsome doc in ER. But even George has got some secrets that even his die-hard fans probably wouldn't know.

1. He's connected to Mad Men

George's first wife Talia Balsam is currently married to John Slattery, who played Roger Sterling on Mad Men. In fact Talia played Sterling's wife Mona in the critically-acclaimed drama.

2. His dream was to play Major League Baseball

George even tried out for the Cincinnati Reds in 1977 but wasn't offered a contract.

3. He and Cindy Crawford share a house

George, Cindy and her husband Rande Gerber share a compound in Mexico. Their homes are joined by shared living spaces.

4. He's related to Abraham Lincoln

George and the former prez are distant relatives. They are connected by Lincoln's maternal grandmother, Lucy Hanks, making George Lincoln's half-first cousin five times removed.

5. He had pig as a pet

He had a pig named Max for 18 years and cared for it till its death in 2006.

6. He's from Kentucky

George was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and later moved to Augusta where he attended high school.

7. He didn't graduate from college

He's attending both the University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University but he never actually got a college degree.

8. He was the second man to ever grace the cover of Vogue

Behind Richard Gere, he was the second man ever to grace the cover of Vogue. He posed with Gisele Bundchen for the June 2000 issue.

9. He had Bell's Palsy

George suffered from Bell's Palsy, which partially paralysed his face, while he was in middle school. The condition went away within a year.

10. He owns a Tequila company

George and his friends Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman created Casamigos tequila to celebrate their love for drinking the alcohol. The even have their own Casamigos airplane.

11. His dad is a TV star

His dad Nick was a news anchor and a game-show host. He also hosted American Movie Classics. He had a cameo role in George's directorial Monuments Men.
