Akon Pleads Not Guilty To Tossing Fan

December 4, 2007 12:00 am CST

Hip-hop and R&B singer Akon pleads not guilty to tossing a 15-year-old boy off the stage at a June 3 concert.

The "Smack That" singer was released following his court appearance Monday where he was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment.

Concert goer Abby Rosa claims she suffered a concussion when the teenage boy Akon threw off the stage fell on her during the show at the local minor league baseball stadium.

"It was never Akon's intention to violate the law. This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets," Benjamin Brafman, the singer's lawyer says.

The case has been deferred until January.
