Late ex-Beatles star John Lennon's hair is being put up in auction.

Lennon's hairdresser, Betty Glasow, has the legend's lock of hair in a copy of his book "A Spaniard in the Works" with a written dedication of "To Betty, Lots of Love and Hair, John Lennon" as a gift from the artist.

Fans will get a chance to bid on the book with the hair in it and other autographed photos and Beatles memorabilia on Wednesday. The auction will take place in Worthing in Southern England. The book is estimated to much as much as $6,200.

The director of Gorringes auction house, Nick Muston, says Glasow wanted fans to have them. "She feels that rather than these things being stuck in a drawer with nobody enjoying them, real enthusiasts (could) get their hands on these things."
