"The Mummy" Star Splits From Wife

Brendan Fraser has split from his wife.

"The Mummy" actor announced on Wednesday that he and his spouse Afton had separated after nine years of marriage.

Fraser's publicist Ina Treciokas said in a statement, "They continue to maintain a close and caring friendship."

The pair married in September 1998 and have three children, Griffin Arthur, Holden Fletcher, and Leland Francis.

It is not yet known if either Fraser or Afton has filed for divorce or if the actor has moved out of the former couple's family home in Los Angeles.

The 39-year-old star recently finished shooting "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor", the third installment of the hugely successful film series in which he plays heroic character Rick O'Connell.
