Chris Daughtry Thinks Idol Is On The Decline

Chris Daughtry doesn't think American Idol is gonna make it. The former season five finalist of the top rated reality contest thinks that it is on its decline, Rolling Stone reports.

"It's in a state of decline and if they don't do something about it, it's probably not gonna last too much longer," Daughtry says. "I'm sure that'll be used against me, but that's the truth, you know?

"I feel like it's definitely lacking some credibility at this point."

The 28-year-old frontman of his band, which is named after him, placed fourth on the show. Despite his loss, he went on to be one of the top selling artists of 2007. He outsold the season's winner and runner-up, Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee. Both were recently dropped from their record labels.

"People get tired of seeing people that suck. It's funny at first, but come on. They spend three weeks on people that can't sing, and that's what they're banking it on. [They should] find some people that you can really invest in," Daughtry adds.
