Craig David's "Oompa Loompa" Request

Craig David sent a singing Oompa Loompa to ask a girl out for him. The British singer was so desperate to woo a mystery girl he met he arranged for a singing orange midget - just like the characters from the book and film 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' - to serenade her at her home in North West England.

Mark 'Chappers' Chapman revealed on DJ Scott Mills' Radio One show yesterday: "Craig had been desperately trying to woo this girl."

"He is obsessed with 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and he sent a singing Oompa Loompa to her and her mum's house with a specially composed tune about how much he wanted to go out with her. And it worked!"

"Craig was waiting down the end of her road in a limousine filled with balloons, and he took her to his favorite restaurant Pizza Express."

The 26-year-old singer's favorite film is 1971 musical 'Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' starring Gene Wilder. In the video for his 2002 single 'What's Your Flava?', Craig dressed as the eccentric candy manufacturer and rides on a boat down a chocolate river surrounded by tiny, orange-faced, green-haired Oompa Loompas.
