Bono Gives Japanese Prime Minister A Special Gift

Bono gave the Japanese Prime Minister a special edition iPod as a gift. The U2 frontman - who is an avid campaigner for debt relief in Africa - met Yasuo Fukuda, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Saturday.

Fukuda asked Bono if the limited edition MP3 player - which is part of the RED campaign, with sales going directly to the global fund to help fight AIDS - contained any U2 tunes.

Bono replied: "No, but you can download it."

Fukuda then revealed his son is a huge U2 fan, saying: "My son has lots of your music."

After the meeting, Fukuda told government and business leaders at the World Economic Forum that African development would be one of the three major themes of the G-8 meeting he is hosting in Japan this July.

Bono has campaigned tirelessly over the years to help the developing nations and has met many world leaders to try and get their support.
