Benji Madden, Sophie Monk Break Off Engagement

Benji Madden is officially single again. The twin brother of Nicole Richie's fiancé and Sophie Monk, his former fiancé, have called it quits.

"Sophie and Benji have officially split," the Australian singer/actress' rep tells the Daily Telegraph. "The decision was mutual and they remain amicable. This will be my only statement regarding this matter."

Madden and Monk have been together for 18 months. They have met in 2006 on the set of the music video of Madden's rock group, Good Charlotte. They have been engaged to be married since December of 2006.

The breakup has been speculated for a month when Monk was spotted without her engagement ring. She also canceled an event appearance at the last minute citing "family reasons."

Meanwhile, Madden's twin, Joel, is happily settling into being a family man. Joel and Richie have welcomed daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden on January 11 and Joel has since posted on his blog about his delight at the new addition to the family.
