Lionel Richie Approves Nicole's Fiance

Lionel Richie loves Joel Madden. Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show, the crooner superstar says he approves of his adoptive daughter Nicole's fiancé and baby daddy.

Richie says, "This guy is so in tune with Nicole - I love him to death. I couldn't ask for a better guy!"

The 58-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer, who refers to himself as "G-Pa," says his new granddaughter is amazing. "That baby is the sweetest, most beautiful baby. Nicole's kid is amazing."

Nicole's daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden, born on January 11, is the singer's first grandchild. He says his daughter became a full-fledged mom and "It's the most frightening thing in the world because you keep thinking, 'Are you going out?' and [she's like], 'No, dad, can't go out! She has another feeding - I have to be right here!'"

Richie recalls the time Nicole had just given birth. He says, "She had this look on her face and I said, 'And it doesn't come with a manual!'"
