Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - More than two decades after taking the blame for shooting his then-fiancée Kelly Preston in the arm, Charlie Sheen has now spoken up about the incident, saying the actress accidentally shot herself. Charlie gave his version of what happened during his "My Violent Torpedo of Truth" show in Vancouver Monday night.

Even before his ex-wives claimed that he threatened them, Charlie had been involved in the shooting incident. Although he was blamed for the 1990 incident, he had never spoken about it until now.

In a video obtained by TMZ, Charlie said he was downstairs drinking coffee when he heard a shot from upstairs. He then saw a naked and blood-covered Kelly at the top of the stairs.

Apparently, Kelly picked up a pair of his pants in the bathroom when the revolver that was hidden in its pocket fell to the ground and discharged. The bullet hit the toilet and the shrapnel ricocheted and struck her.

Charlie said that he knew would be blamed for it. Kelly broke off their engagement soon after.

He told the crowd, "The oddest moment… when I picked up the phone, I looked at the phone, completely perplexed, and I didn't know whether to call 911 or 411. But for years people thought, there was always, this discussion about the time I tried to kill Kelly Preston."

He wasn't as talkative then as he is now, so there was no denial or admission that came from him for decades.

There's no comment yet from Kelly's camp, although, as eonline.com pointed out, Charlie's version makes sense.

No charges were filed then. And Kelly, who is now married to John Travolta, even defended the former "Two and a Half Men" star last month, telling People magazine, "My heart just goes out to him, and all of his family. He's such a good person underneath all of it, he really is."

"We were together for a year, and he wasn't drinking, and he wasn't doing drugs. And there's a beautiful person in there. He really is a great man."
