"American Idol" Finalist David Archuleta Cancels Utah Concert Due To "Idol" Contract

June 4, 2008

David Archuleta's Utah fans will have to wait a little longer to hear him sing close to home.

"American Idol" finalist David Archuleta was reportedly planning on holding a "thank you" concert for fans at the "E" Center in Utah on Friday night.

The plans did not last long, because Archuleta's agent said his "Idol" contractual obligations restrict him from holding the concert.

The tickets would have been sold this week, with proceeds going to charity, according to "2News" in Utah.

Archuleta's agent, Roger Widynowski, said the "thank you" concert would be postponed to a later date, which would have to be after the "Idol" summer tour concludes.

Archuleta, known for his performances of songs like "Imagine" and "Angels," came in second to winner David Cook on this season of "Idol."

The 17-year-old will still perform at The "E" Center venue on July 14 and July 15, when the "American Idols Live Tour 2008" stops in West Valley City, UT.
