"Dawson's Creek" Star James Van Der Beek Files For Divorce

November 20, 2009

"Dawson's Creek" star James Van Der Beek has filed for divorce from wife Heather McComb, five months after they announced they were separating.

The 32-year-old actor cited irreconcilable differences, according to the papers filed on November 13 in Los Angeles Superior Court. They were engaged in early 2003 and were married in July in an outdoor ceremony in July that year.

Van Der Beek is most famously known as the titular character in The WB teen drama "Dawson's Creek." After the show ended in 2003, he returned to the Off-Broadway stage and landed a few guest appearances on shows, including "Ugly Betty," "Criminal Minds," and "How I Met Your Mother."

McComb played a part in the '90s series "Party of Five," joining the show in 1998 as Maggie.
