New Michael Jackson Album "Michael" In December, First Single "Breaking News" This Month

November 5, 2010 Michael Jackson

Epic Records is set to release the first posthumous album of recordings from Michael Jackson next month. Simply titled "Michael," the new album will feature recently completed recordings and an album cover that's, well, epic.

Before his untimely death, Jackson had been working on recordings for a brand new album set to be released during or after his string of "This Is It" concerts at London's O2 Arena, which was originally set to kick off last year. According to the release, the album is made up of the songs he had written and recorded in the last few years prior to his death.

"The creative process never stopped for the King of Pop who was always planning for his next album; unbeknownst to many fans around the world Michael Jackson was writing and recording songs continuously everywhere from a friend's home in New Jersey to studios in Las Vegas and Los Angeles with a small group of handpicked collaborators," the release states.

The first of those new songs to be heard by Jackson fans is "Breaking News," the lead single off "Michael." "Breaking News" will be premiered on Monday, November 8th, with a snippet being available during the weekend at www.michaeljackson.com.

"Breaking News" was one of the tracks recorded in his friend's home in New Jersey in 2007 and was recently completed by his collaborators. The producers who worked on the upcoming "Michael" have not yet been revealed.

The album cover, an oil painting by artist Kadir Nelson, was created in 2009. It features an image of the King of Pop during the late 80's era, highlighting images from "Thriller," "Bad," and even his "Moonwalker" and "Captain EO" films.

"Michael" is the first album of new material from Michael Jackson since 2001's "Invincible," which featured the international hit "You Rock My World." "Breaking News" is set to be his first new single since the title track to his 2009 concert film "This Is It."

"Michael" is set to hits stores on December 14th. The album is already available for pre-order on his official website, including an exclusive t-shirt offer and a bundle including his "Vision" DVD set featuring the most complete of his music videos available yet.
