Former Nickelodeon child star Amanda Bynes has retired from acting. The "Hairspray" star has announced her retirement from the industry at the ripe old age of 24.

Bynes, who started acting at the age of seven, announced Saturday on Twitter that he will be leaving her on-cam job, saying "being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem."

She wrote in a series of messages: "If I don't love acting anymore I stop doing it. I don't love acting anymore so I've stopped doing it."

"I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I've retired."

Bynes rose to fame starring on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy variety show "All That" from 1996 to 2004. She also starred in the show's spin-off "The Amanda Show" from 1999 to 2002.

Her last films, "Hairspray" and "Sydney White," were released in 2007. She will next be seen in another teen comedy "Easy A" as the lead antagonist.
