Amy Winehouse's Dad And His Constant Media Interviews

There's something about Amy Winehouse that is so reminiscent of Britney Spears. Both are tabloid headliners, they have great career, a downward spiral fall, and controlling dads.

And now that the American pop star is on her way to recovery, thanks to Papa Spears, can the British songstress' dad do miracles for his daughter as well?

It seems just yesterday when Spears, 26, had rebelliously shaved her head bald, did numerous public meltdowns, showed off her pantyless crotch, and was twice escorted from her home to the hospital on a gurney. Now, the recovering pop princess appears to have been doing nicely ever since her dad acted as her conservator.

She can now have sleepovers with her kids when just a few months ago she wasn't even allowed to see them. There are also no more late night shopping trips and drunken night outs. Plus, it has just been confirmed, she's doing a comeback album that would most surely be a hit again.

As for 24-year-old Winehouse, judging from the current events in her life, she's still a long way from recovery. But worry not, like Spears, the "Rehab" star also has a dad that is concerned about her. The only problem is, unlike Jamie Spears, Mitch Winehouse is doing more talk than action.

When Jamie intervened in his daughter's troubled life, he didn't speak to the media and discussed Spears' condition. He went to the court, asked to be in charge of her life, got it, and did his thing. But Mitch though thinks it's a good thing to do interviews and inform the public of his daughter's emphysema and his fear that she might face a "slow and painful death."

Winehouse, as we all know, has enough media exposure as it is. Talking to the media about her condition to act like a concerned parent might not be a helpful thing to do right now. Maybe what the singer needs is to get out of the spotlight and sort her life out, as what Jamie had forced on Spears.
