Amy Winehouse's Husband Opts To Stays Behind Bars

September 16, 2008

Amy Winehouse's husband has chosen to stay in prison rather than accept the terms of his early release.

Blake Fielder-Civil - who is currently serving a 27-month sentence for grievous bodily harm and perverting the course of justice - was due to be released tomorrow but elected to stay incarcerated rather than be forced to live with his mother in Nottinghamshire under a 7pm curfew.

The 26-year-old will only leave jail if he can return to the home he shares with Amy, 25, in Camden, London.

A source said: "It was all set for him to be released, but because he refused to go anywhere other than Camden, it was called off at the last minute. He doesn't want to go somewhere where he can't be reunited with Amy and his friends. He'd rather stay inside."

The UK Prison Service was reportedly worried Blake - who, along with Amy, has had a well-documented substance abuse problem - would be tempted to return to a life of drugs and crime if he went back to his old home.

Amy is said to be distraught her husband will remain in prison as she is desperate to be reunited with him.

The source added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Amy is so upset because she thought he would be out for good."
