Blake Lively Left Devastated After Her Dad Is Involved In A Car Accident

Blake Lively was left devastated by the "horrific accident" which saw her father hospitalized on Monday.

The "Gossip Girl" star - who plays rich student Serena van der Woodsen in the hit U.S. TV show - rushed to be with her dad Ernie after his car crashed into an embankment in Los Angeles, leaving the 61-year-old actor with severe back and lung injuries.

Blake's mother Elaine said: "It was a horrific accident. He was on his way to the set of his TV show 'Criminal Minds,' and he swerved to miss a car, and his car tumbled down an embankment."

"Ernie suffered back injuries, and also his lungs. But it is far less serious than we thought. Blake is here, the whole family is here, and at first it didn't look good. But thankfully, now we have been told he is going to make a full recovery. It's all been taken care of."

She added: "We do not know when he will be out of hospital. We are just happy he is going to be OK."

Blake flew to Los Angeles from New York as soon as she learned of the accident.

The 21-year-old actress starred alongside Ernie in 2005 movie "The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants" and the 2008 sequel "The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants 2."
