Bono Undergoes Emergency Back Surgery After Rehearsal Stage Fall

May 24, 2010 U2, Bono

Bono has undergone an emergency back surgery. The U2 frontman, 50, was said to be injured when he fell on stage while rehearsing in Munich on Friday.

A message on their website reads: "Bono has today undergone emergency back surgery for an injury sustained during tour preparation training. He was admitted to a specialist neurosurgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neurosurgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr. Muller Wohlfahrt."

"Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate."

With Bono's emergency trip to the hospital, the Irish band may be forced to cancel their tour. They were set to open their road show in Salt Lake City in June, but the plan is now put on hold and is set to be rescheduled.
