Brangelina Split Unofficially Denied, But Rumors Still Rampant
|January 25, 2010 Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston|
Last week, In Touch Weekly quoted an ex-Waldorf-Astoria housekeeper Anna Kowalski, saying the 34-year-old "Tomb Raider" star had sexual trysts with a dialect coach from her "Salt" film.
Another publication, U.K.'s News of the World, also claims that the "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" unmarried stars hired divorce lawyers to help them divide their assets and the custody of their six kids.
The Daily Mail adds another headliner, saying Angelina, who is still jealous of Brad's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, finds her partner "boring and toxic," while Brad tells her she needs psychiatric help or it's over between them.
While a Brangelina break-up rumor is nothing new, they have been reported numerous times to have acrimoniously split since they began their relationship in 2005, this particular instance the rumors have been insistent and growing.
Three major awards shows - The Critics' Choice Awards , Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild Awards - have passed during the last weeks, but the duo were no-shows even though Brad's "Inglourious Basterds" was nominated.
Brad also attended the Hope for Haiti Now telethon even in New York on Friday, while Jolie was in Los Angeles for a Vanity Fair photo shoot. The last time they were seen together was earlier this month before the affair allegations surfaced.
Conflicting claims from sources are adding to the mystery. Some say that the split is so on, with Brad even contemplating to go back to his ex-wife after learning of Angelina's rumored steamy affair. But there are also insiders, who are said to be close to the couple, who are denying the break-up.
Fueling to the reports is the couple's worsening appearance. The "Benjamin Button" star is getting criticism for his unruly beard and I-don't-care look, while Angelina keeps losing pounds off her already emaciated frame.
Whatever the real case is, Brad and Angelina are staying mum. No official word on whether they are or not really splitting, and the public is unlikely to receive one. The couple rarely talk about their relationship, except in rare magazine interviews.
Somewhere in L.A., Jennifer must be having the time of her life. The former "Friends" star, who has made it clear that her private life is off-limits to the public in the past, bathed from tabloid attention by "getting cozy" with yet another man before her film's release. It's almost certain she will drop another bombshell about Brad and diss Angelina in an interview again to fortify her status as the wronged ex-wife who is just getting her sweet revenge.
People are now choosing to believe the split since the previous rumors did not get enough spotlight from various publications at the same time. And by the looks of it, this one wouldn't die just yet. So expect more Brangelina war stories and denials from unofficial sources.
Brad is expected in Los Angeles on Saturday to present at the Director's Guild Awards. His appearance, or possible non-appearance, would surely create more talk and it wouldn't matter if he brings Angelina along or not.
