Britney Spears To Receive Award From Gay Community

April 29, 2009

After her support of gay marriage made headlines, Britney Spears and the gay community will cement their mutual love when the pop star is awarded the Always Next, Forever Now Award at Logo's NewNowNext Awards. She is scheduled to appear to accept the honor at the second annual awards show.

According to the press release, the award "pays homage to beloved Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Icons." Janet Jackson was the recipient of the award last year.

This year's show will be hosted by RuPaul, who is also scheduled to perform. Also scheduled to appear are Lance Bass, Vanessa Williams, Lisa Lampanelli, and more. Spears is not currently scheduled to perform.

The show will be taped at the Hiro Ballroom in the Maritime Hotel in New York City on May 20th. The NewNow Next Awards will air on the Logo network and simultaneously stream online on Saturday, June 13th at 9pm ET/PT.
