Brittany Murphy's death certificate modified to include father's name

April 11, 2011 Brittany Murphy

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - Brittany Murphy's death certificate has been modified to include her father's name. More than a year after the "8 Mile" actress passed away of acute pneumonia and severe anemia, Angelo Bertolotti has had his name listed as her father on the paper.

Her death certificate previously read "unknown" in the box for her father's name despite the fact that Bertolotti is listed as her father on her birth certificate.

Bertolotti, who divorced Brittany's mom Sharon when she was still 2 years old, complained that he was blocked from visiting his daughter's grave because of doubts he was a relative.

He told TMZ that he wasn't upset with the snub at first, but he became angry when the staff at Forest Lawn cemetery wouldn't allow him to visit his daughter's gravesite because he wasn't listed.

After petitioning to have it changed, his name was belatedly added to her death certificate. He is now able to visit Brittany's grave without incident.
