Candace Cameron Bure recently decided to get herself a cleanse but seems like this decision of hers has invited a lot of backlash.

The 38-year-old found herself on the receiving end of criticism after she announced via her Facebook page that she was "excited to kick off a 5 day cleanse" following a "very indulgent week in Napa."

But unfortunately for the Dancing With the Stars third-place finisher, her fans didn't find the news quite so thrilling and many accused the star of being unhealthy.

In response to the backlash, the erstwhile Full House actress penned a follow-up Facebook post, defending her decision to embark upon the super-strict diet.

"After reading your comments, let me expand! I'm excited to start my 5 day cleanse not to lose weight but to get my body back on track, ridding all the toxins and unhealthy stuff I've put in it the last few months," Cameron Bure explained. "Since being off Dancing With The Stars, my body has struggled to find its balance after having danced up to 8 hours a day and eating so clean."

"After going back to my normal eating habits as well as extended over indulgent summertime vacation eating and normal exercise routine, my body has endured some confusion causing some minor health issues," she continued. "That is private, so I will not going into detail, but this cleanse is just a step to getting it back on track because I know that food is a key source to healthy living."

The mother of three clarified that the Palenta cleanse "includes real food" before concluding: "And if you still comment about how unhealthy I am for doing a cleanse or that I don't need to lose weight, I'll know that you never read any of this and I won't bother answering any comments below of that nature."

This isn't the first time that the blond beauty has publicly defended her remarks. She previously clarified her conservative views on marriage after she outlined her "submissive" role as a wife in her book, Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose .

"The definition I'm using with the word submissive is the biblical definition of that," she explained during an interview with HuffPost Live. "So, it is meekness, it is not weakness. It is strength under control, it is bridled strength. And that's what I choose to have in my marriage."
