Charlize Theron Reportedly Splits From Longtime "Husband" Stuart Townsend

Charlize Theron has reportedly split with longtime "husband" Stuart Townsend. The unmarried couple, who have been dating for nine years, allegedly broke up after their Christmas holiday in Mexico.

Theron, 34, has since stopped wearing the Victorian commitment ring the Irish actor gave her as a symbol of their relationship. She originally described it as "very, very precious," and claimed she never takes it off. But she was spotted ringless during the Hope for Haiti telethon last week.

A source told the Daily Mail, "Stuart is gutted out but Charlize said that she realized during the Mexican holiday that the relationship was over. They had become more like brother and sister than lovers. It was she who ended it."

The South African beauty remained in their shared Hollywood Hills home, which is in her name, while he has moved his things into their Malibu beach house that they own together.

They have never married, claiming they didn't need a paper to validate their union but they consider themselves as husband and wife.
