Cheryl Cole's husband wants to renew their wedding vows in Dubai. Soccer star Ashley Cole is planning to take his Girls Aloud star wife for a romantic break to the desert city - where he proposed to her in 2005 - this summer.

He has reportedly been shopping for an expensive new ring which he is planning to present to her at the exclusive Al Mahra resort.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Ashley is setting the scene to renew his vows with Cheryl."

"He has been planning to do something special this summer to prove their relationship is back to how it was."

The couple's near three-year marriage was rocked again last month after England player Ashley, 28, was held overnight and fined by police for being drunk and disorderly. He was abusive to officers outside a London nightclub after flying into a rage because he was photographed talking to a woman.

Cheryl was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for charity at the time and had warned her husband to be on his best behavior while she was away.

Last year, the couple's marriage was thrown into crisis by revelations Ashley had cheated on the singer with hairdresser Aimee Walton.

Cheryl, 25 - who is also a member of the judging panel on U.K. TV talent show "The X Factor"- has previously dismissed the idea of renewing her vows as "tacky."

A source said: "When I asked Cheryl about it, she just said, 'Why the hell would I renew my vows when I only got married a couple of years ago? It's ridiculous. It's as tacky as hell.'"
