Coldplay Frontman Chris Martin Talks Girls In Rolling Stone

June 12, 2008

Chris Martin, frontman for the band Coldplay, talks about his relationship with girls in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. Coldplay's new album, Viva La Vida, will be released June 17.

The musician told the magazine that he "had a tricky time with girls until I was like 21."

Now, of course, he is married to superstar Gwyneth Paltrow and they have two children. He told the magazine, "I got trapped in the friendship trap many, many times. It was like, 'I need to be a rock star because this is no good: Being the kind of guy that everybody likes but no one wants to [sleep with].'"

Despite becoming a rock star, Martin says that Paltrow has been his only "serious" partner.

He says that being married to, "someone very successful and very powerful basically keep you hungry to improve."

He added, "You've got to be hungry. If your wife went out with Brad Pitt, you'd want to prove yourself, you know what I mean?"
