Coldplay To Be Served Court Summons At The Grammys

February 6, 2009

Coldplay are going to be sued at the Grammys. Joe Satriani has accused the band of plagiarism after claiming their recent single "Viva La Vida" was a based on his song "If I Could Fly" and has hired a legal team to serve Coldplay papers during the awards ceremony on Sunday.

Satriani is sure the group will attend the Los Angeles event because they have been nominated for seven awards.

It has been reported Satriani's lawyer Howard King has hired a team to "dog the band everywhere they go" so the papers can be served personally.

He is rumored to have employed a camera crew to film the attempts at serving them the writ.

Coldplay - made up of frontman Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion - have said they find the incident "frustrating and annoying."

Drummer Will said: "It's so far-fetched and ridiculous. But that's about all we can say at the moment. We're waiting to see what's happening but it's frustrating and annoying and totally unfounded."
