Corey Haim's Death Due To Natural Causes, Drugs Not A Factor

Corey Haim may have had used drugs when he was alive, but that wasn't what killed him. The Los Angeles County Coroner announced Tuesday that the former teen heartthrob died from natural causes and drugs were not a significant factor in his death.

According to the coroner, although toxicology results showed evidence of drugs in his system, including marijuana and cold medicine, they did not play a role in bringing him down.

Haim, 38, died from pneumonia and a bad heart. It was found out that there was a damage to the air sacs in his lungs and there was also a hardening of his heart muscle with plaque build-up within the blood vessels.

The coroner's report also states that Haim's mother, Judy, stated that hours after his death, she flushed her son's entire prescription drugs stash, including 7 pills of the muscle relaxer carisoprodol, down the toilet because "she didn't want anyone else to get hold of the medication and she didn't know the police would be responding to her residence."

She also told officials that he may have used marijuana in the last two days of his life.
