Coroner Rules Mark Ruffalo's Brother's Death As Homicide

December 18, 2008

Mark Ruffalo's brother was murdered, a coroner has ruled. Scott Ruffalo, 39, died in hospital a week after being found with a gunshot wound to the head earlier this month.

Los Angeles County Coroner's Office ruled the death was a homicide Wednesday.

Former suspect Shaha Mishaal Adham - who has admitted leaving the scene following the death after collecting a set of car keys - was cleared of all charges last week.

Her lawyer Ronald Richards has disputed the coroner's verdict, reaffirming his previous claims the death was the result of a drug-fueled game of Russian roulette.

Richards said: "The only two eye witnesses to the shooting saw the same thing, a gunshot wound to the left side of the head, while one of them saw him pull the trigger."

"They saw the gun in his left hand after the shot was fired."

Immediately after the shooting, police wanted to speak to Brian Scofield because he and Adham were on the surveillance video at the hairdresser's home.

Police currently have no further suspects.

Scott is survived by a wife and stepdaughter.
