Country Singer Taylor Swift Finally Goes To Her Prom

Country superstar Taylor Swift missed her high school prom because she was touring the country, selling records, collecting awards and gathering more fans. All that changed on Saturday night, however, when the singer went to the prom at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Swift went to the prom as part of MTV's "Once Upon a Prom" show which will air June 12. Her date was senior Whit Wright, who Swift chose from about 50 applicants. Swift told People.com, "It was literally one of the best nights of my life."

Swift, who has been home schooled the past two years, said her date was down to earth, all-American and very sweet.

Wright, who had planned on going to his prom by himself, was picked up by Swift in her tour bus. Swift was wearing a beige BCBG full-length gown until she discovered that her date was wearing a pink tie and vest to honor a friend's mother who is battling breast cancer. Faster than you could say "fairy tale date," Swift changed into a pale pink dress by Sue Wong.

The pair double-dated with Swift's best friend Abigail and his best friend, partying with other seniors on a riverboat known as the 'Bama Belle before heading to the dance.

There was no prom kiss, however. "I don't kiss on the first date!" Swift said.

She did say she would "totally" see him again. The Associated Press said she also added, "We have concerts in Alabama all the time and his whole family is going to come out to shows and stuff. He was the best prom date ever!"
