Courteney Cox finally talks about separation from David Arquette

After hearing David Arquette talk about his split from Courteney Cox over and over again, it's now the "Cougar Town" star's turn to speak up. The 46-year-old actress explains why her marriage to the 39-year-old actor failed to move on.

Cox, who graces the cover of Bazaar magazine's April issue, says in an interview with the magazine that she and Arquette separated after reevaluating their relationship.

She said, "I think every relationship has a point where you stop and reevaluate. Are you happy? Have you grown together or apart? What do you share interests in? I think that's a normal thing to do, but it's so much harder when it's done publicly."

She wasn't hurt as well when Arquette talked to Howard Stern about their separation and their personal lives on the latter's radio show about their split.

"If you didn't hear the Howard Stern interview and you just read quotes, I'm sure it seemed out of context, crazy. Most guys aren't mature, are they? I'm not saying there wasn't some crazy behavior, but if you know who David is, you know what his intentions are, how honest he is, and how big his heart is," Cox defended her estranged husband.

"You can't really get mad at David because he's not a malicious person. He's not out to harm. But I'm his biggest protector. I can't help it."

As for their daughter, 6-year-old Coco, she's adjusting well.

"She's our number one priority. No matter what happens, she'll be okay because she knows that she is completely safe, loved, and we'll protect that more than anything in the world."

Arquette and Cox, who met at the set of the blockbuster thriller "Scream," married in June 1999. They announced their "trial separation" in October last year, but Cox said then that they still had no intentions of filing for divorce.
