Daniel Radcliffe Says His Nude Appearance In "Equus" Has Been Treated As Porn

August 21, 2008

Daniel Radcliffe says his appearance in "Equus" has been treated like "pornography."

The "Harry Potter" actor - who starred in the stage play in London's West End theater district and is about to reprise his role on New York's Broadway, as a stable boy obsessed with horses - was surprised at the reaction his nude scene caused.

He said: "Offended mothers were calling up and saying I shouldn't be doing this, that they weren't going to go see it."

"OK, don't see it. They're treating it like it's pornography, and it's not. It's only seven minutes at the end of the play when I'm naked, and I'm 19 now."

Daniel also claimed the infamous scene is one of the most "shocking" and "terrifying" pieces of theater he has witnessed or been involved in.

He added at New York's "Times Talk" event, held by the The New York Times newspaper: "You're in there, and there are these hooves flying around, and I'm naked by that point. It's terrifying."

"That scene is one of the most shocking pieces of theater, and I deserve very little credit for that. Those 'horses' are amazing."
