David Archuleta Hopes To Spend His 18th Birthday At Home With Family And Friends

November 7, 2008

Life hasn't slowed down for David Archuleta since coming in as runner-up on last season's "American Idol," and now his self-titled debut album will hit the stores on November 11. Then on December 28, the young "Idol" contestant turns 18.

He says before "Idol" he would spend time at home feeling bored, but not anymore. "It would be cool to spend time with family and friends," he said, adding that since his birthday is around the holidays.

On the musical side of David's life, he did say that he and "Idol" winner David Cook do keep in touch. "He's a great guy," David said about Cook. "He texts me from time to time."

And if David does make it home for the holidays what is he hoping his mom will cook? "Chicken soup, because it is made with love," he said, proving that so far the young musician has stayed true to his aw-shucks roots and hasn't let the music world jade him -- a trait that has endeared him to his fans.
