David Letterman to retire from The Late Night Show

David Letterman is ready to leave The Late Night Show. He announced his retirement on Thursday after 21 years of doing the The Late Show leaving everybody shocked.

The Late show has already made history with being the longest running host show.

Letterman explained to the audience. "And I phoned him just before the program, and I said ‘Leslie, it's been great, you've been great, and the network has been great, but I'm retiring.'"

Letterman then continued, "I just want to reiterate my thanks for the support from the network, all of the people who have worked here, all of the people in the theatre, all the people on the staff, everybody at home, thank you very much. What this means now, is that Paul [Schaffer] l and I can be married."

The CEO and president of CBS network, Les Moonves released a statement saying, "There is only one David Letterman."

He added, “On a personal note, it's been a privilege to get to know Dave and to enjoy a terrific relationship. It's going to be tough to say goodbye.”
