Denise Richards Blames Media For Richie Sambora Split

Denise Richards is coming forward with details about her relationship and split with rocker and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, blaming the media for the breakdown of their relationship.

Richards claims that their relationship ended because the media continued to accuse her of breaking up his marriage with her former best friend, Heather Locklear. Richards and Sambora began dating after she split up with her former husband Charlie Sheen in 2006. It was just a couple of months after Sambora ended his 11-year marriage to Locklear.

Richards was the center of many of the tabloid reports which accused her of coming between Sambora and Locklear. She claims it put a huge strain on their relationship.

She told talk show host Larry King, "They (Sambora and Locklear) were getting divorced; he and I were friends and it happened. And she had moved on. She was already involved with someone else at the time. It (the press coverage) affected, I think, the circumstances."

"It was very difficult to sustain a relationship. We were so slammed in the press. We were dealing with our parents dying. We were going through very difficult divorces and custody and it put a strain on our relationship. I regret the timing, perhaps, and I feel terrible anyone that was hurt and involved. But I did not split up their marriage."

Richards can been seen in her new reality series called "It's Complicated" starting on Memorial Day which will show details of Richards everyday life and family.
