DJ AM Sues New York Daily News For Libel

July 4, 2008 06:13 am CDT

DJ AM is suing New York Daily News for libel and invasion of privacy for an article saying his career is not as hot as when he dated Nicole Richie.

According to the Los Angeles Times blog, the celebrity DJ, real name Adam Goldstein, didn't take it lightly when the publication printed an article on June 22 saying that after he broke up with Richie, he didn't have a career anymore.

The paper also said that before, he was commanding a 6-figure salary per gig. But since his split with the reality TV star, he now gets a much smaller fee per gig. Also, the clubs he used to spin discs in barely use him anymore.

But Goldstein insists he is still "one of the most sought-after, and highly respected, disc jockeys in the country if not the world."

The court papers cited his resume for evidence. He is asking for at least $10 million in damages.

Goldstein was previously engaged to Richie but they called it off in September 2004.
