Actor Don Cheadle has signed on to star in and executive produce "House of Lies," to air on Showtime. The show is based on the book "House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time," by Martin Kihn.

The new show, which will be a half-hour dark comedy, was created, written and executive produced by Matthew Carnahan, who created "Dirt." The show will go into production in February 2011 in Los Angeles.

Cheadle has an extensive acting resume, including parts in big box office flicks like "Iron Man 2" and "Ocean's Eleven," and has been nominated for an Academy Award for his role in "Hotel Rwanda." In 2006, he won a Golden Globe for his role in "Crash."

"Don Cheadle is one of the great dramatic actors of our generation," said Showtime President of Entertainment David Nevins. "He also happens to be an extremely funny man. 'House of Lies' is the perfect show to take advantage of both sides of him. Honestly, I would have been happy just to get his autograph."

The show takes an inside look at a management consultant from a top-tier firm. Cheadle will star as Marty, a highly successful, cutthroat consultant who is never above using anything or anyone necessary to get his clients the information they want.
