Dustin Hoffman Says There's Something Unnatural About Marriage

January 30, 2009

Dustin Hoffman thinks marriage is "unnatural." The 71-year-old actor - who married second wife Lisa Gottsegen in 1980 - struggles to accept the concept of spending your entire life with someone.

He said: "There is something unnatural about marriage. These two people are not going to be the same people in a few years. The trick is to live your own life while sharing the same space."

Despite having his doubts about matrimony, Dustin - who has four children with Lisa and raised two daughters with ex-wife Anne Byrne - thinks it is important to be in a loving relationship.

He said: "I always wanted to just find the girl that I could be with."

The veteran actor is blissfully happy with Lisa, who launched a successful skin care range in 2007, and jokes she will soon be better known than he is.

He said: "I can brag about her. She's in stores in New York, London, Paris, and Hong Kong. I'm still the focus, but I'm losing ground rapidly."
