Sir Elton John claims that he never hid the fact that he is gay. According to him, he thought that it was common knowledge since he is living with his manager who is also openly gay.

It is known that Elton John married Renate Blauel back in 1984 only to confirm that he is homosexual by 1988.

He was just recently asked by Matt Lauer from the Today Show why he didn't come out of his closet until he was in his 40s. According to Sir John, nobody dared to ask him, that's why!

The very first person who had the guts to ask him about his sexuality was Cliff Jahr during an interview for Rolling Stone.
