Emma Watson Denies Twittering She Will Attend Yale

March 6, 2009

Emma Watson has blasted reports she will attend a university in the U.S. The "Harry Potter" actress has denied she wrote "I got into Yale!" on Twitter, claiming she doesn't even have an account with the social networking site.

A statement on her official website said: "There have been several rumors spreading recently that Emma has accepted a place at Yale University after telling her fans via her Twitter account."

"Emma does not have a Twitter account and these rumors are false. Emma is still trying to decide whether she wants to attend a university in the U.K. or the U.S.A. and hasn't accepted any placements at this time."

Emma - who plays Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" franchise - is planning to start university this year, after deferring for a year to go traveling.

She said last October: "I've applied to a few universities for next year, including several American ones. If I do go there I will do a liberal arts degree, but if I stay in the U.K. I'll do English Literature."

The 18-year-old actress also prompted rumors she was to attend Harvard, another elite U.S. university, after visiting the English department at the Massachusetts university.
